James Baggett Jr. "There was the Right Way, the Wrong Way, and there was the James Way and James Way was always the Right Way"
CPT James "Jim" Grater (Ret) age 75, passed away on April 17, 2020, at his home surrounded by his family. Jim was born in Lebanon, IN.
Jim retired from the Air Force after 26 years of service. After retirement he spent countless hours helping veterans and their causes. The DAV, MOAA, TVET, American Legion, VFW, and the Montgomery County Veterans Coalition just to name a few. He also loved being a part of Corvettes of Clarksville since July 2015, the Welcome Home Veterans Week, and TVETS Annual Veterans on the Hill.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Laura Greer Grater, past Corvettes of Clarksville President (2019).
United States Marine Corps veteran, George “Russ” Russell Newman, age 72, of Clarksville, passed away August 26, 2020, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Russ was born December 24, 1947, in Florala, Alabama. Russ and his wife Bridgette joined Corvettes of Clarksville along with their black 1999 C5 convertible which Russ enjoyed showing off to Corvette enthusiasts. Russ was a soft spoken person who attended meetings and activities and made them better by his presence. Members that knew him will miss him.
He was born on May 31, 1941 in Italy to Anelio and Annetta Ragnacci Lisandrelli. Angelo served 4 years in the United States Navy and then retired from the Army Reserves. He was involved with the local DAV, American Legion, and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Angelo or “AJ” was also a long time member of Corvettes of Clarksville since October 2014. AJ was proud of his black C7 Z51 optioned coupe and made sure it sparkled clean when participating in various patriotic events locally and afar. He was one to gladly help out the Corvette club when asked. He will be missed.
Mom, Grandma, Kari was the light of our family. Her life has been devoted to the service of others, especially children. Karen was a pianist, who enjoyed a life long love of music, and shared that gift with all who wanted to learn. She was an avid reader, knitter, keyboarder, baker, and enjoyed sharing stories of her classrooms, travels, friendships, and Corvette adventures.
Shellie Robert Teemer Jr was born June 27, 1952 in Albany, Georgia.
He joined the United States Army during the Vietnam War in April 1972. During his service to our country he met his beautiful wife of 40 years Linda, while both of them was stationed in Kaiserslautern, Germany in May 1980. Shellie and Linda were joined in holy matrimony on 12 January 1981.
Lt Shellie R. Teemer, Jr started his career with the Sheriff’s Office in 1994 as a jail deputy. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2004 and Lieutenant in 2012. After 21 years of service he retired in 2015. During his time of service with the Sheriff’s Office he trained, developed, coached and mentored many deputies at the Sheriff’s Office.
Linda was born in Djakarta, Indonesia, on October 28, 1951. She joined the United States Army during the Vietnam War in April 1972. During her service to our country, she met her wonderful husband of 40 years, Shellie R. Teemer Jr. During her 20 years of active duty service while serving in the United States Army she obtained the rank of Master Sergeant.
In April 1992 Linda retired from the United States Army and worked as a welder at the local Trane plant in Clarksville.
Bill was born June 24, 1947, in Clarksville, TN.
Bill was retired from the US Army, having served 23 years, and he later retired from Civil Service. He was the founder of Clarksville Corvette Club and a member of Madison Street United Methodist Church. Mr. Coke was also a member of VFW Post 1913, German Shepherd Dog Club of America, Studabaker Club, founding member of the TriStar Kennel Club of Williamson County, the National Rifle Association, and Commemorative Air Force.
