Escorting "The Wall" and Exhibits 18 Sep 2019

Corvettes of Clarksville had the honor to be part of the escort for the American Veteran Traveling Tribute Wall, Field of Honor – Veterans Tribute, Korean War Memorial and the 9/11 Never Forget Mobile Exhibit. All were a part of the Welcome Home Veterans five day Clarksville event for 2019.

We met at staging area across from the local Harley Davidson dealer and joined the escort caravan through Clarksville to the display site at a local vineyard. The Clarksville Police Department provided necessary traffic management and citizens provided respectful displays of thanksgiving in memory of veterans giving the “supreme sacrifice”.

Thank you to all CoC members providing escort services!

Visiting the Welcome Home Veterans exhibits 19 Sep 2019

The American Veterans Traveling Tribute Wall (AVTT) is an 80 % scale representation of the monument placed on the Washington DC capital Mall. It is 360 feet wide and is inscribed with 58,318 names of Viet Nam veterans that have perished in that war.

“The Forgotten War” is a new exhibit honoring Korean War veterans. The war’s reporting was censored and the public remembered WW II and the recent Viet Nam conflict, hence “The Forgotten War”.

The Field of Honor American flags represent flag honors to military veterans, active and reserve duty, fallen soldiers and first responders protecting us.

The 9/11 Never Forget Mobile Exhibit is a tractor trailer unfolding to a 1,000 sq. ft. display of artifacts and photos of the Twin Towers’ destruction and killings of thousands of Americans in New York. A retired NYFD lieutenant acting as a docent. Also there was a display and presentation of the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Siller was a NYFD, one of 343, that perished heroically after saving many, many occupants of Tower 1 before its collapse.

Thank you to the various businesses of Clarksville, TN for sponsoring Welcome Home Veterans and the fantastic related exhibits!
